Kwekwe is a quiet and serene city that has played a very significant role in the industrial development of the country that we know today as Zimbabwe.

Originally known as Sebakwe, the town changed its name to Que Que on 1 October 1905, owing to confusion that arose between Sebakwe and Selukwe (Shirugwi).
Kwekwe was established as a fort 1902 as a consequence of the gold rush around the area.
